Sebesta Poelma, LLLP is seeking an experienced contract attorney to support our commercial and business litigation practice. This opportunity involves substantive work across all phases of litigation and close collaboration with firm partners on case strategy and client service.

Scope of Work

• Handle assigned litigation matters and projects, including discovery, motion practice, mediation, and trial preparation.
• Research and draft persuasive briefs and motions in state and federal courts, including motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, and motions to compel.
• Prepare pleadings, discovery requests and responses, legal memoranda, and supporting research.
• Represent clients at hearings and take fact-witness depositions as needed.
• Collaborate with partners and team members to develop case strategies and provide responsive, high-quality legal services.
• Manage deadlines and maintain organized files for assigned matters.

Qualifications

• Active Texas law license in good standing and compliance with applicable CLE requirements.
• 3+ years of litigation experience; commercial or business litigation experience preferred.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate effectively with the firm.

Engagement Details

• Contract engagement, with scope, duration, and workload determined by mutual agreement.
• Compensation and payment terms to be agreed upon based on experience and the nature of the work.
• Hybrid or remote work arrangements may be available, subject to engagement terms and case needs.
• Availability for hearings, depositions, and other in-person commitments as required.
