Summary Join the Indian Health Service as a X‑Ray Technologist (CT) (Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist) and provide essential imaging services in a mission‑driven healthcare environment. Perform CT and diagnostic radiology procedures, support trauma and emergency care, and help deliver quality patient care to American Indian communities. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021). Duties Perform Computed Tomography (CT) examinations using advanced imaging protocols for a variety of patient conditions. Administer and monitor contrast materials while ensuring patient safety during imaging procedures. Operate CT equipment, select technical factors, and produce diagnostic‑quality images. Perform quality control, radiation safety, and troubleshooting activities to support CT operations. Collaborate with radiologists and providers while maintaining accurate electronic imaging documentation. On‑call hours or standby duty may be required. Position may be subject to rotating shifts: days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Requirements Conditions of employment: Probationary period may apply. U.S. Citizenship required. Selective Service Registration required for males born after 12/31/1959. Position requires contact or control over Indian children – candidates must not have been found guilty of or pleaded nolo contendere or guilty to certain crimes. Successful completion of E‑Verify employment verification check required. Background investigation must be completed within five (5) calendar days of issuance. Financial suitability check is required; applicants must demonstrate financial responsibility and be free of significant delinquent obligations. Prior to appointment, candidates must present two valid forms of identification. If one is a state‑issued ID or driver’s license, it must be REAL ID‑compliant. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the specific position. Basic Requirement(s) Applicants must meet the credentialing requirements of Public Law 97‑35 and 42 CFR Part 75 for radiologic personnel. This includes successful completion of an accredited radiologic technology educational program and current certification/registration as a radiographer. Certain exceptions may apply based on prior federal employment dates and certifications. Minimum Qualifications GS‑08: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS‑07 level, including routine CT examinations, routine and complex radiographic examinations, patient preparation, operating CT and radiographic equipment, assisting with contrast administration, adapting imaging techniques, maintaining documentation, troubleshooting, and supporting radiation safety, quality assurance, infection control, and radiology operations. GS‑09: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS‑08 level, including independent performance of CT examinations with advanced protocols, adapting procedures for trauma and critically ill patients, selecting technical factors, operating CT scanners, reconstructing diagnostic images, administering contrast, monitoring patients, performing quality control, troubleshooting CT equipment, collaborating with radiologists, and maintaining compliance with radiation safety, accreditation, and electronic documentation. OR two years (36 semester hours) of graduate education directly related to the work. OR a master’s degree or equivalent degree directly related to the work. OR a combination of graduate education and specialized experience (only graduated education exceeding the first year creditable toward meeting specialized experience). All qualification requirements must be met by the respective cutoff day of rating to be eligible for consideration. Foreign education requires a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency.
