Director of Financial Planning and Analysis

This isn’t a role where you maintain existing processes, you will have the complete freedom to design, build, and scale the entire corporate finance function from scratch, backed by an elite hybrid schedule requiring only one day per week in the office.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical, operationally‑minded Director of FP&A to spearhead financial planning, forecasting, and performance management. This critical leadership role bridges commercial strategy, supply chain execution, and deep cost accounting rigor to drive profitability and scalable growth.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Strategic Analysis

• Lead Corporate Planning: Own the annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long‑range planning processes across revenue, COGS, and OPEX.
• Driver‑Based Modeling: Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models linking volume, pricing, promotional structures, and cost inputs.
• Performance Insights: Deliver actionable intelligence to senior leadership regarding revenue growth, gross margin, and EBITDA performance.

Operations Finance & Cost Accounting

• Standard Costing Integrity: Partner closely with Accounting and Operations to ensure the accuracy of standard costing, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and inventory valuation.
• Variance Analysis: Analyze Purchase Price Variance (PPV), labor/overhead variances, and overall manufacturing efficiencies.
• Margin Optimization: Drive continuous improvement in gross margin by unlocking deep visibility into SKU‑level profitability and product mix.
• Plant Performance: Build robust reporting frameworks tracking plant performance, yield, waste, and throughput.

Commercial Finance & Trade Spend

• ROI Evaluation: Partner with Sales and Marketing to evaluate pricing strategies, promotional ROI, and trade spend effectiveness.
• Channel Profitability: Support cross‑channel analysis spanning retail, eCommerce, and wholesale networks.
• Net Revenue Management: Develop structured frameworks for strategic net revenue management (NRM).

Supply Chain & Executive Reporting

• Operational Partnership: Serve as the strategic finance partner to Supply Chain, Procurement, and Manufacturing teams to optimize inventory and working capital.
• Executive & Board Visibility: Lead monthly business reviews and prepare comprehensive reporting packages for executive leadership and Private Equity investors.
• Process & Systems Leadership: Modernize and scale FP&A processes, data integration, and reporting tools across ERP and BI systems. Mentor and grow a talented finance team.

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience: 8–10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, with substantial exposure to the CPG or manufacturing sectors.
• Technical Foundation: Strong command of cost accounting, standard costing, and inventory management.
• Environment: Prior experience in a Private Equity‑backed or rapidly scaling corporate environment is highly preferred.
• Channel Expertise: Familiarity supporting multi‑channel operations (retail, wholesale, and eCommerce).
• Systems: Advanced financial modeling skills. Proficiency with enterprise‑level ERP systems and modern Business Intelligence (BI) planning tools is required.
• Education/Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A CPA, CMA, or MBA is considered a strong plus.
