Senior Scientist, Antibody Characterization

Xaira Therapeutics seeks a Senior Scientist to characterize monoclonal and multispecific antibodies using biophysical platforms. This hands-on laboratory role supports discovery and development of novel biotherapeutics within an AI-focused biotech startup in South San Francisco.
Responsibilities
- Perform high-throughput antibody characterization via BLI and SPR to determine binding, kinetics, and affinity
- Screen antibodies for off-target binding using BVP ELISA and poly-specificity assays
- Conduct early developability assessments on antibody panels using multiple biophysical platforms
- Analyze experimental data, curate results, and present findings to cross-functional teams
- Maintain experimental records in laboratory information systems and ensure compliance with safety protocols
Requirements
- PhD in biophysics, biochemistry, structural biology, or related field with 5+ years industry experience
- Extensive hands-on experience with BLI, SPR (Cartestra, Biacore), and ELISA platforms
- Demonstrated expertise screening monoclonal, bispecific, and antibody-like molecules
- Proficiency in protein production, purification, and characterization techniques (DLS, DSF, SEC)
- Strong skills in data analysis software (GraphPad Prism) and statistical tools
- Proactive self-starter with excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Strong communication and collaborative skills for cross-functional teams
Compensation: $136,000 - $170,000 base salary annually
