About The Park School The Park School is a Pre‑K to Grade 8 independent school in Brookline, MA dedicated to excellence in education. Position Overview The Grade 3 Grade Level Assistant is a full‑time, 10‑month position in the Lower Division, reporting to the Lower Division Head. The role supports the second‑grade team in achieving the school’s mission and curricular goals. Responsibilities Support all four lead teachers in individual classrooms and across the grade level. Assist teachers with lesson preparation by preparing materials and setting up equipment. Work with small groups of students during the school day. Support behavior management, classroom procedures, and routines to ensure a safe and clean environment. Communicate with families regarding absences and dismissal changes. Support teachers in curriculum development and participate in team meetings. Collaborate with lead teachers to identify student issues and recommend solutions. Assist in social‑emotional problem‑solving in an age‑appropriate manner. Oversee students during non‑classroom times, including in‑between classes, lunch, recess, and carpool times. Provide substitute teaching coverage at the assigned grade level as needed. Comply with state, school, and class rules and regulations. Attend all training sessions and occasional faculty or professional development meetings. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in education or a relevant field. Minimum of 2 years of experience as a teaching assistant or similar role. Solid understanding of classroom activities and early childhood teaching best practices. Compassionate and positive attitude. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Flexible and able to adjust to different learning environments and structures. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in teaching and learning. Motivation for and interest in professional development. Ability to maintain focus and adaptability in an energetic, sometimes loud environment. Effectively interpret, navigate, mediate, and resolve conflicts with students and families in a timely manner. Ability to hold meetings in person and via supported video conference tools such as Zoom or Google Meet. Proficient with or willing to learn Google tools and other applications used by the school, such as Veracross and Atlas. Physical Requirements Ability to sit and stand uninterrupted for 30‑minute periods. Ability to walk on and travel across variable surfaces (level flooring, stairs, turf, gravel, asphalt, etc.). Ability to lead, supervise, and accompany students to all areas of the school campus, including indoor and outdoor spaces, during day‑to‑day responsibilities and in emergencies. Ability to consistently operate a computer and learn Google tools and other school software. Ability to regularly stand, sit, crouch, and kneel to support students. Ability to work outdoors, year‑round, in variable weather conditions. Ability to lift and hold up to 15 lbs overhead, and occasionally transport up to 25 lbs. Ability to maintain focus and composure in an energetic, sometimes loud environment. Compensation The annual compensation for this role is $57,960.00. Salaries may vary based on degrees, experience, and other legal considerations. Additional benefits will be discussed during the offer process.
