Clerical Associate

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Clerical Associate, the Clerical Associate carries out general receptionist and clerical duties in accordance with departmental policy and procedure which requires knowledge and proficiency in the use of the Meditech ITS module. The Clerical Associate is responsible for maintaining accurate filing of all x-ray reports, including distribution of reports to patients' permanent file folders, physicians' offices, Medical Records, ER, and other designated areas. Expected to maintain accurate and orderly file system including moving appropriate film jackets to the storage facility. Duties also include proper telephone procedures and etiquette, and effective communication skills.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Experience

One year of related experience. Requires a working knowledge of standard practices and procedures.

Qualifications

*Ability to comprehend and apply a large variety of operating procedures.*Ability to make independent decisions, displaying emotional maturity and using sound judgement.*Ability to organize for maximum time utilization and smooth patient flow.*Ability to read and write legibly with spelling accuracy.*Apprenticeship Program.*Capable of functioning effectively in undesirable high volume conditions for an extended period of time.*One year previous clerical experience and or use of computer equipment and other business office equipment is preferred. Relevant post-secondary education may be considered as experience.*Pleasant, professional demeanor when dealing with the public, even irate or abusive individuals.

Area Of Responsibilities

*Distribution of x-ray reports and images.*Failure to execute duties in an accurate manner leads to confusion and wasted time on researching discrepancies. Probable errors may be serious and involve losses such as improper costs, waste of material, damage to equipment, delay in processing work. Effect usually confined within the hospital. Most of work not subject to direct verification or check. Regularly works with some confidential data, such as accounts, patient's medical records, which if disclosed, might have an adverse internal or external effect.*Maintains patient confidentiality.*Must work well with people.*Performs receptionist and clerical functions.*Performs other related duties as needed.

Compliance Statement
