This role ensures that all cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment are properly cleaned, stored, and readily available to support efficient kitchen operations. The Steward plays a critical support role to the culinary team by maintaining a safe, clean, and compliant working environment.This position operates in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment with constant standing and frequent physical activity, including lifting, washing, and handling equipment. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, dependability, and the ability to consistently meet sanitation standards.Job ResponsibilitiesCleaning & SanitationWash all pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment thoroughly and efficientlyEnsure all items are free of food residue, grease, and smoke stains before storageMaintain cleanliness of floors, counters, trash receptacles, and workstations throughout the shiftFollow all sanitation procedures and health code requirements consistentlyKitchen SupportAssist cooks and kitchen staff with cleaning and organizational needs during serviceEnsure timely availability of clean kitchen tools and equipmentSupport overall kitchen workflow by maintaining a clean and orderly environmentOrganization & MaintenanceProperly store cleaned items in designated areas in an organized mannerMaintain dishwashing and stewarding areas in a clean and efficient conditionEnsure chemicals and cleaning supplies are used and stored safelySafety & ComplianceHandle cleaning chemicals and detergents safely and according to guidelinesFollow all workplace safety procedures and sanitation standardsReport any safety hazards, equipment issues, or maintenance needs promptlyJob RequirementsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience: Prior experience as a kitchen steward, dishwasher, or in a food service setting is preferred; experience handling cleaning chemicals is required.Skills and Abilities:Strong work ethic with a high level of reliability and dependabilityAbility to maintain cleanliness and organization in a fast-paced environmentKnowledge of proper cleaning techniques and sanitation standardsAbility to handle cleaning chemicals safely and effectivelyStrong attention to detail in cleaning and storage processesAbility to support kitchen staff and respond to changing needs during serviceGood organizational skills to maintain an efficient workspaceAbility to work independently and as part of a teamCertifications: None required (food safety knowledge preferred).Travel required: No travel required; position is fully property-based.Physical requirements:Constant standing on hard kitchen floors in a busy, high-noise environmentFrequent walking, bending, reaching, balancing, pushing/pulling, and use of manual and gross motor skillsOccasional crawling, crouching, and kneelingFrequent lifting and carrying of items up to 50 lbs.Continuous use of eye-hand coordination for cleaning and handling equipmentThis job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
