Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a float pool PCU/Progressive Care Unit position requiring Kansas and Missouri (or compact) licensure and strong telemetry and cardiac monitoring skills.

Details

• This is a float pool position — clinicians will not be assigned a home unit and will float between approximately 5 Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU departments across multiple metro campuses as needed
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
• Patient ratio is 1:5
• Patient population includes cardiac telemetry, neuro stepdown, and MS/tele cases — including pre/post cardiac cath, sepsis, wound care, ETOH, SI, renal failure, AFib, GIB, stroke, COVID, and GI bleed
• Required skills include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, and emergency response
• Preferred skills include sheath removal, feeding tube care and management, port access, blood product administration, and central line care/management
• Equipment used includes 12-lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, and Omnicell
• Epic EMR is used; pre-start Epic training modules are required
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period, with shifts falling on any combination of Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
• Charge RN assignments may be required as needed
• No on-call required
• Block scheduling is not available

Requirements

• Active RN license — both Kansas and Missouri licenses (or a compact license accepted in both states) must be in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/telemetry specialty experience required, including at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
• Required work setting experience: MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry, and Neuro Stepdown
• Strong cardiac monitoring skills required, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• 2 professional references required: at least one must be supervisor-level or above; the second may be a charge RN — both must have worked with the candidate within the past year
• SSN required for consideration
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

• Charge RN experience is preferred
• Holiday shift coverage is required as assigned by the unit
• RTO is capped at 7 days; all RTO and scheduling requests must be finalized at the time of consideration — no additional requests will be accepted after offer or onsite
• Orientation includes Epic training (candidates may choose between the Epic module or the Epic test-out option) and required infusion pump and glucometer training
• Travel partners are not accepted for this position
• Candidates who have previously worked at this health system as permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Candidates who have previously held a contract at this health system must have an 18-month break (with at least a 3-month break in service) before being eligible to return
• Candidates must be willing to float between departments, units, and facilities across campuses — unwillingness to do so may result in cancellation
