Unit Clerk – Phlebotomy
Labcorp is seeking a Unit Clerk – Phlebotomy to join our team in New York, NY.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday 10:00am-6:30pm and alternating Saturdays 10:00am – 2:00pm
Job Responsibilities:
- Working directly with medical providers to coordinate patient testing needs within a fast-paced, medical environment.
- Able to navigate around a hospital setting to attend client needs to various suites.
- Ability to decipher, collect, and process complex test orders pertinent to hospital outreach settings.
- Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups.
- Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests etc.
- Prepare all collected specimens for testing and analysis.
- Address any customer service related issues in a prompt and respectful manner
- Manage and monitor patient flow, wait times, inventory levels and information logs.
- Promote teamwork, cohesiveness and effective communication among coworkers.
- Perform data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner.
- Work with patients and providers to obtain pertinent demographic and billing information. Process and collect payments when required.
- Observe and report any performance, compliance or staffing related issues to supervisors.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience as a phlebotomist performing venipunctures
- AAMA or CMA accreditation required
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 year or more of leadership experience- formal or informal
- 1 year or more experience with pediatric or neonatal phlebotomy patients
- Familiarity with ICD-9 coding
- Bilingual – English and Spanish
Additional Job Standards:
- Administrative and clerical duties as necessary.
- In depth knowledge of phlebotomy duties, responsibilities and techniques
- Proven track record in providing exceptional customer service
- Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Able to be flexible with scheduled hours to provide shift coverage as needed
- Comfortably working under minimal supervision
- Reliable transportation and clean driving record if applicable

**Pay Range: $18.10 - $35.76 per hour

Phlebotomist's may be eligible for participation in the PST Incentive Plan, which pays a quarterly bonus based on performance metrics
