Maintenance Manager, Challenger 605, Bedford, Massachusetts Location: Bedford, MA 01730 Flexible Work Arrangement: Onsite Job Category: Flight Services Career Level: Technicians / Crew Position Summary The Assistant Maintenance Manager is responsible for the day‑to‑day performance and management of aircraft maintenance. The role provides recommendations and upkeep related to asset management, ensures the airworthiness of assigned aircraft, and maintains technical proficiency and education of aircraft and regulatory requirements. The assistant manager reports to the Lead Maintenance Manager on the account. Minimum Requirements Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic (A&P) certificate mandatory 2‑4 years of maintenance experience in aviation maintenance on the assigned type of aircraft Flexible work schedule required to meet the flight profile mission Ability to travel both domestically and internationally Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record Main Responsibilities Return to service, required inspection items, deferrals, airworthiness release authority as authorized Perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, and inspections on assigned aircraft Ensure Flight Control and Director of Maintenance are aware of aircraft maintenance status at all times Identify and schedule out‑source maintenance providers, authorized persons for maintenance, and conduct on‑site audits using JAFS form 635 Ensure procedures within the GMM and AIM are followed Monitor inspections, repairs, and modifications performed on assigned aircraft at remote locations and brief OMP on JAFS requirements Review and ensure all required entries into the aircraft logbooks and permanent records are accurate and preserved in accordance with GMM requirements Plan scheduled and coordinate unscheduled maintenance on aircraft during normal and after business hours Review Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins released by the FAA and manufacturers for applicability to the assigned aircraft Update and interface with Computerized Maintenance Tracking Programs to ensure accuracy and timely implementation Maintain annual training level with the certificate for RVSM, GMM, and AIM compliance Maintain current technical proficiency and education of aircraft and regulatory requirements Procure quotes for upcoming maintenance packages, assemble and provide a comparison to the supervisor for review Interface and communicate with the client, vendors, and internal departments while coordinating the requirements of maintaining the aircraft Establish contracts, publications, and subscriptions as necessary to keep manuals current Prepare an annual maintenance budget for assigned aircraft Review and approve invoices generated for assigned aircraft Reconcile invoices with vendors and process to the accounting department for payment Accept special projects, duties and responsibilities as assigned In the temporary absence of the assigned Maintenance Designee, an alternate will be assigned duties and responsibilities as directed by the Director of Maintenance or Regional Maintenance Manager Represent the company internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network Desired Characteristics Two years of college or equivalent technical training in a related field preferred Inspection Authorization desired Self‑educator and motivator Strong project management experience Pleasant, friendly, and helpful manner to deliver the best experience to customers and colleagues Quality driven with a passion for excellence to represent the company as a Brand Ambassador Demonstration and commitment to the company values of Trust, Honesty, Alignment, Transparency Physical Demands Essential functions include frequent use of hands and fingers, standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust and focus. Work Environment The work environment includes heavy maintenance and upscale customer areas. Noise levels are usually moderate with occasional high volume during aircraft arrivals and departures. The environment involves vibration, occasional fuel fumes, and varying weather conditions. The hangar environment may involve extreme hot and cold temperatures during certain seasons.
