Position Overview

This position requires a dedicated and experienced healthcare professional with a minimum of two years of experience in a hospital setting, specifically in a NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). The ideal candidate will possess an active nursing license and relevant certifications.

Unit Information

• Unit Name: NICU
• Number of Beds: 5 (including one negative pressure room for specialized care)
• Patient Ratios:
  
  
  • 1:1 for CPAP patients
  • 1:2 generally, with potential for 1:3 with feeder grower infants
• Staffing Description:
  
  
  The unit is staffed with two NICU nurses at all times-one dedicated to the NICU and another supporting mother-baby care. While there is no secretary for the NICU, a tech is available for women's services.
• Type of Equipment:
  
  
  Key equipment includes OG tubes, IVs, Hi Flow, CPAP, PANDA warmers, and Giraffe warmers. The unit provides care for infants 32 weeks gestation and above, and ventilated patients are transferred when necessary.

Documentation and Scheduling

• Documentation System: CPN
• Shifts Required: Minimum of 3 shifts per week
• Floating Policy: Nurses will primarily work in mother-baby care unless NICU care is needed.

Certifications and Skills

• Required Certifications: NRP, STABLE, CPR
• Preferred Skills: Experience with CPAP, UVCs, Hi Flow, IVs, and procedures such as surfactant administration and chest tube placement (limited).

Dress Code

The required uniform consists of wine-colored scrubs. Some scrubs are available on the unit.
