CO-OP Restaurant & Lounge , located within The Study at University City , is seeking an energetic, service-driven Assistant Restaurant Manager to support the daily front-of-house operations of our vibrant neighborhood restaurant. This hands-on leadership role works closely with the Restaurant General Manager to maintain exceptional service standards, support and develop the restaurant team, and ensure a seamless guest experience.

The Assistant Restaurant Manager is actively engaged in daily service, providing floor leadership, coaching team members, assisting with scheduling and operational responsibilities, and responding to guest needs. This position plays an important role in ensuring each shift is organized, properly staffed, and prepared to deliver the level of genuine hospitality expected at CO-OP.

Responsibilities

• Support the daily front-of-house operation, maintaining a visible leadership presence throughout service.
• Lead assigned shifts and help ensure the restaurant is properly prepared, staffed, and organized for each service period.
• Support the Restaurant General Manager in executing departmental goals, service standards, and operational initiatives.
• Coach, train, and provide ongoing feedback to front-of-house team members while reinforcing accountability, teamwork, and professional development.
• Monitor the guest experience throughout service and respond promptly and professionally to concerns and service recovery opportunities.
• Support restaurant, lounge, room service, and private dining operations to ensure consistent and seamless service.
• Assist with team scheduling, daily staffing decisions, and labor management based on business levels.
• Support opening and closing procedures, cash handling, shift documentation, and operational reporting.
• Assist with beverage inventory, purchasing, receiving, and cost-control procedures.
• Maintain awareness of restaurant financial performance, including labor, food and beverage costs, and opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
• Partner closely with culinary leadership and team members to maintain effective communication and coordination between front- and back-of-house operations.
• Support reservations, special events, promotions, and guest engagement initiatives.
• Ensure team members follow established food safety, responsible alcohol service, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and guest-ready restaurant environment.
• Serve as a positive example of genuine hospitality, professionalism, and teamwork during every shift.

Fundamentals

• High school diploma or equivalent required; hospitality or business education preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of restaurant experience, including supervisory, lead, or management experience in a fine dining, upscale casual, or hotel restaurant environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate front-of-house team members in a fast-paced service environment.
• Working knowledge of restaurant operations, including scheduling, labor management, inventory, beverage controls, and cash handling.
• Food safety and responsible alcohol service certifications preferred or ability to obtain required certifications upon hire.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a professional and approachable leadership style.
• Ability to remain composed, visible, and engaged during high-volume service periods.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Proficiency with restaurant POS systems and basic Microsoft Office applications preferred.
• Ability to lift or carry items up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods.
