Senior Budget Administrator

Location: San Diego, CA Senior Budget Administrator The USC Keck School of Medicine - Alzheimer Therapeutic Research Institute (ATRI) is seeking a Senior Budget Administrator. This academic finance position resides in the Finance group of the ATRI and supports the Neurotranslational Division. Responsibilities Participate with the Neurotranslational Division Director in preparing proposals, data agreements, material transfers, and service agreements within parameters of sponsored and non-sponsored research guidelines. Oversee and communicate submission processes, both paper and electronic. Review documents for completeness and compliance. Develop, prepare, and finalize project budgets and provide budget justification. Serve as primary liaison and active partner between the Division Director, research groups, and other departments. Respond to sponsor inquiries. Collaborate with the Office of Sponsored Research to ensure awards are set up properly and cost‑sharing requirements are fulfilled. Initiate cost transfers and review and reconcile expenditures. Advise on post‑award spending and commitment activity. Oversee compliance related to fund and revenue. Develop and communicate reports supporting project status and create effective forecasting and decision aids. Participate in contract closeout processes, submit final reports and certificates, and provide information needed for audit inquiries. Understand, apply, and advise on university and government policies for projects. Serve as a resource on subject area and overall technical resource to the Division Director and other university staff. Participate in and contribute to process improvements, lead other staff in group projects. Qualifications Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field(s). Minimum Experience: 3 years. Minimum Skills: Demonstrated budget experience, including knowledge of government and fund accounting, generally accepted accounting principles and practices; ability to interpret, provide clarity and conceptualize complex financial data and policies; strong analytical, qualitative, communication, interpersonal, organizational, guidance, computer and spreadsheet skills. Preferred Education: Master's degree. Preferred Experience: 5 years. Preferred Skills: University budget experience and/or thorough knowledge of university financial systems, policies and procedures; experience with database administration and management; demonstrated supervisory and/or project management experience.
