Fabrication Welder

IMMEDIATELY HIRING QUALIFIED FABRICATION WELDERS (MIG AND STICK) IN KERNERSVILLE, NC

TYPICAL HOURS: MONDAY - FRIDAY, 7AM-4PM

PAY $25-30 PER HOUR + OT

• Perform custom fabrication work on heavy equipment, including filtration systems for drilling equipment and body panels for rigs.
• Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to determine project requirements, measurements, and fabrication techniques.
• Set up and operate fabrication equipment such as drill presses, plasma tables, torches, grinders, band saws, and arc gougers.
• Carry out MIG and Stick welding on steel components, ensuring strong, clean, and structurally sound welds.
• Measure, cut, shape, and fit metal components according to specifications using appropriate hand tools and equipment.
• Assemble fabricated parts and structures, verifying proper alignment, fit, and finish before final welding or installation.
• Inspect workpieces and completed assemblies for accuracy, quality, and adherence to project requirements.
• Perform basic mechanical repair, assembly, and installation tasks related to fabricated components and heavy equipment.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for fabrication, repair, and construction-related tasks.
• Follow shop safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Collaborate with shop leadership and team members to plan work, resolve fabrication challenges, and meet project deadlines.
• Participate in an in-person interview and weld test to demonstrate fabrication and welding proficiency.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency with MIG welding on steel components.
• Proficiency with Stick welding on steel components.
• Hands-on experience in custom fabrication work, preferably in custom fabrication shops or on heavy equipment.
• Ability to operate fabrication equipment including drill presses, plasma tables, torches, grinders, band saws, and arc gougers.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in mechanical assembly and repair.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Skilled in using hand tools and power tools for fabrication, installation, and construction-related tasks.
• Comfort working primarily in fabrication rather than production-only welding.
• Ability to perform a weld test on steel to demonstrate practical welding skills.
• Reliable attendance and ability to work a full-time day shift schedule.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, day-shift role based in a shop environment in Kernersville, North Carolina, with typical hours from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. You will work primarily in a fabrication shop setting, using equipment such as drill presses, plasma tables, torches, grinders, band saws, and arc gougers, along with standard hand tools and power tools. The work involves hands-on fabrication and welding on heavy equipment and custom components, requiring adherence to shop safety practices and proper use of personal protective equipment appropriate for welding and fabrication work. The environment is collaborative and production-focused, with a strong emphasis on quality, safety, and meeting project deadlines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience fabricating and welding on heavy equipment such as drilling rigs or similar machinery.
• Background in custom fabrication shops handling one-off or specialized projects.
• Experience with installation of fabricated components on equipment or structures.
• Familiarity with repair and maintenance practices in a mechanical or construction environment.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precise fabrication work.
• Strong problem-solving skills for addressing fabrication and fit-up challenges.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with shop forepersons, leads, and team members.
• Willingness to complete an in-person interview and practical weld test as part of the hiring process.

This is a Contract position based out of Kernersville, NC.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
