Library Media Specialist

Qualifications Valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate with proper endorsement(s) for subject area(s) Job Goal To assist students with learning subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, responsible members of society and to provide for student and teacher utilization of a comprehensive program of library media skills and services. Essential Functions Determines individual, class, and school needs Establishes program objectives and plans learning experiences Develops and implements policies and procedures for library media management. Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives Organizes media and equipment to provide accessibility for users Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere Exhibits positive human relations skills Evaluates the program and/or student progress Communicates with parents/guardians, colleagues, and community groups Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication Maintains and submits records and reports Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy, and state and federal rules and regulations Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership Performs other related duties as assigned Duty Days: 187 Salary Range: According to Madison County Schools Salary Schedule.
