Position Description: Position Title: Executive Director Position Type: Full-time, Exempt (average 30–40 hours per week) Reports to: Board of Directors Worksite/Location: Remote work based in Fairbanks, AK. Salary: $80,000 per year, excluding benefits Benefits: Paid holidays and time off, IRA match, and Health Reimbursement Arrangement Position Summary: Interior Alaska Land Trust (IALT) is seeking an executive director who will lead the organization through its next phase of growth and impact. Serving as the organization’s chief executive, the executive director will work closely with a passionate volunteer board to advance IALT’s mission of protecting land north of Alaska Range for the benefit of the community. Responsibilities include the development and implementation of comprehensive strategies to encompass land protection, advocacy, fundraising, and community engagement. Principal Duties & Responsibilities: Assist the Board of Directors to develop a strategic plan to meet IALT’s programmatic and financial goals and objectives. Implement effective land conservation programs and initiatives that reflect IALT’s goals and priorities, especially long-term stewardship of existing properties. Identify and apply for grant opportunities, and implement a donor fundraising program to sustain the operational budget. Plan and implement an effective public outreach program, and establish and maintain positive relations with media contacts, to maximize the organization’s visibility in communities of Interior and Northern Alaska. Design information systems to monitor the effectiveness of programs, as well as the status of the budget. Report outcomes monthly to the Board. Assist Board Treasurer with payroll and other administrative needs. Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities: 5–8 years of experience in a relevant field. Relevant education credentials will be considered in addition to relevant experience. Practical knowledge of real estate transactions and land conservation practices relevant to the core programs of IALT. Demonstrated successful fundraising experience, particularly in generating operating funds. Excellent oral, written, and listening communication skills and the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively. Knowledge of and experience with budgets and finances. Passion for land conservation and the benefits it brings to sustainable, healthy, and thriving communities. A commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. Beneficial Experience: Understanding and knowledge of Interior Alaska conservation issues, politics, and policy; experience with a nonprofit land trust or similar conservation organization; a history of strong collaboration, forming strategic and effective relationships, and maintaining a high level of tact and confidentiality; familiarity with Little Green Light constituent relationship management software and social media. Additional Requirements: As IALT does not have a physical office, the executive director will provide their own computer, phone, and printer in a home office environment with reliable internet.
