The location of this role will therefore subsequently change to Cambridge, UK in accordance with timelines to be set by the Company. This role ensures that medical considerations, patient safety, and clinical integrity are consistently applied across studies within a programme.Operating within the clinical strategy defined by the Clinical Development Lead (CDL), the Senior Medical Director partners closely with the Senior Scientist and cross-functional teams to guide the integration of physician expertise into study execution and programme-level decision-making. The role serves as a senior member of the Clinical Matrix Team (CMT), contributing to complex clinical decisions, regulatory interactions, and external scientific engagement.The Senior Medical Director provides oversight and guidance to Medical Directors within the programme, supporting consistency of clinical judgement, safety evaluation, and medical interpretation across studies.PLEASE NOTE: This career opportunity requires an on-site office presence (minimum of two days a week) at one of GSK’s Switzerland (Zug), Poland (Warsaw), UK (Stevenage or London HQ) or US (PA or MA) sites.In organisational standardsStudy Design and ExecutionProvide senior medical input into protocol development across studies, ensuring clinical relevance, feasibility, and alignment with the clinical Clinical DevelopmentBasic Qualifications:Medical degree and completion of advanced specialty training, fellowship or country-equivalent higher-level qualification in oncology, haematology, or a related specialtyClinical and pharmaceutical experience in oncology clinical development, with depth across multiple studies or programmesExperience in medical monitoring, safety evaluation, and clinical data interpretation across clinical studiesUnderstanding of clinical development processes, GCP, ICH guidelines, and global regulatory frameworksExperience operating within cross-functional matrix teams and contributing to complex clinical and programme-level decisionsPreferred Qualifications:Strong scientific communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence internal and external audiencesDeep experience in oncology clinical development across multiple studies or programmes, including Phase I–IIIExperience contributing to or leading aspects of regulatory interactions (e.g., IND, scientific advice, NDA/MAA)Demonstrated experience engaging with KEEs, advisory boards, and scientific communities in oncologyTrack record of scientific publications and The US salary ranges take into account a number of factors including work location within the US market, the candidate’s skills, experience, education level and the market rate for the role. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program which is dependent on the level of the role. Available benefits include health care and other insurance benefits (for employee and family), retirement benefits, paid holidays, vacation, and paid caregiver/parental and medical leave.
