Summary:

The Process Technician will assist the Process Engineers with process sustainment functions throughout the organization, on site at Scott City, Missouri. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the sustainment and maintenance of current manufacturing processes to minimize downtime and improve efficiency and productivity. They will have an educational discipline or technical background that demonstrates the ability to assist the team in efforts to sustain operational effectiveness through automation or other equipment and process-based strategies to deliver business results. The key metrics of success are summarized by SQDEP+. Safety, Quality, Delivery, Equipment, and Productivity. The (+) represents non-tangible and/or environmental attributes that are difficult to measure such as employee engagement, organization wide culture, and other similar impactful elements of a healthy work culture. The Process Technician may oversee sustainment initiatives both in collaboration with other business leaders or independently as the sole advocate of the task. The Process Technician sustainment initiatives should collaborate closely with the Process Engineer improvement initiatives and are subject to internal standards and may include additional elements as needed and at the discretion of the LPO leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities are, but not limited to:

• At a high level, monitor and maintain critical equipment to optimize manufacturing processes, increase throughput, and reduce downtime.
• Conduct testing and troubleshooting of systems to identify and resolve technical issues or malfunctions, ensuring seamless operation and minimal disruption to production.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance, calibration, and repairs on equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Identify root cause of equipment malfunctions and communicate to Engineering, PEs, or the maintenance department.
• Program and configure PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces), robots, and other automation equipment to perform designated tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Set up tooling for various equipment and integrate into the machine through software and programs.
• Support with machine commissioning, including set up, programming, and training.
• Communicate with external suppliers, vendors, or staff on any needed parts or supplies.
• Proactively communicate activities to each affected department leader and complete tasks with minimal interruption to the production schedule.
• Perform PM and process audits on all equipment.
• Complete tasks as directed by the Sr. Process Engineer with minimum supervision.
• Maintain accurate documentation of equipment, including schematics, manuals, and troubleshooting guides, to facilitate effective maintenance and knowledge transfer.
• Provide training and technical support to production staff on the operation and maintenance of systems, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and skill development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; advance degree preferred; Mechanical/ Electrical / Industrial engineering, robotics, or a closely related technical field.
• Experience in a production environment, particularly as it relates to automation technology.
• Lean Manufacturing experience is preferred.

• This role requires a strong understanding of industrial automation technologies, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as ladder logic, structured text, or C/C++ for PLCs and other automation controllers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues in a fast-paced production environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Physical Demands:

• Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking 8-10 hours depending on the task.
• Must be able to lift, up to 50lbs., on occasion.
• The use of approved Safety Glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots are required. Gloves may be required depending on certain tasks assigned.
