The Hardware team builds the retrofit automation kits, sensors, and hydraulic/electronic control systems that turn existing heavy equipment into field-ready automated machines for utility-scale solar and broader construction markets. 

How you'll make impact:

You will serve as the bridge between the jobsite and engineering, owning field discovery, product requirements, and launch execution for Xpanner's retrofit automation kits and machine interfaces. 

Core Responsibilities : 

• Lead field discovery with customers, operators, field teams, and sales to translate jobsite pain points into clear product requirements and automation opportunities. 
• Drive end-to-end product ownership for retrofit automation kits, identifying opportunities across heavy equipment automation and construction workflows. 
• Define requirements for retrofit kits, machine interfaces, sensors, hydraulic/electronic controls, and field installation processes. 
• Manage the complete hardware product lifecycle, from PoC planning and field validation through launch readiness and issue prioritization. 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and field engineers and Software & Data Platform PMs—to align technical feasibility with commercial impact. 
• Enable commercial launch and growth through business cases, ROI logic, product documentation, training materials, sales enablement, and field feedback loops. 

Minimum Qualifications:   

• 3-5 years in hardware product management across machinery, industrial or construction equipment, robotics, vehicles, or automation systems. 
• Strong customer-facing skills and willingness to spend time in the field. 
• Ability to translate customer problems into clear product requirements and technical discussions. 
• Strong execution mindset with experience managing timelines, risks, stakeholders, and trade-offs. 
• Willingness to travel frequently to customer sites, workshops, and field deployments. 
• Founder's mentality: Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable building processes in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. 

Preferred Qualifications:   

• Experience with heavy equipment, hydraulics, CAN, GNSS/GPS, machine guidance, sensors, or control systems. 
• Experience in construction, solar, infrastructure, energy, mining, agriculture, or industrial automation. 
• Experience launching hardware, robotics, or field-deployed products. 
• Experience with retrofit or aftermarket equipment integration.
