Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace, our premier gourmet food destination, is looking for a skilled and personable Full-Time Smoked Salmon Cutter to join our flagship store in Melville, NY! This customer-facing role requires precision, artistry, and exceptional service — the perfect fit for someone who takes pride in their craft and enjoys connecting with customers.

Position Overview
Our Smoked Salmon Cutter is responsible for expertly slicing smoked salmon to customer specifications while maintaining the highest standards of quality, presentation, and food safety. This position combines hands-on craftsmanship with excellent customer interaction, ensuring that every guest enjoys a superior shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet and engage customers warmly, providing knowledgeable and friendly service
• Slice smoked salmon to exact thickness and portion requirements per customer requests
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation at all times
• Properly handle, label, and store smoked salmon products to ensure freshness and safety
• Monitor product rotation and manage inventory to minimize waste
• Answer customer questions and recommend related products or specialty items
• Assist with general deli operations, including restocking, cleaning, and team support
• Follow all company health, safety, and sanitation policies

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience working with seafood, including cutting and filleting fish
• Strong knife-handling skills and comfort working with raw and smoked fish
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Team-oriented attitude with attention to detail

Working Conditions

• Frequent movement and standing on hard surfaces throughout the shift
• May require bending, reaching, lifting up to 30 lbs., and handling heavier items with assistance
