1st Class Marine Electrician

Location: Norfolk, VA
Position Type: Local – No Travel

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced 1st Class Marine Electrician for shipyard work in the Norfolk, VA area. The ideal candidate will have strong shipboard electrical experience, current or previous HII badging/eligibility, and hands-on knowledge of NAVSEA electrical drawings, CTWDS, WAFs, electrical testing equipment, and power hookups.

Candidates must be able to work independently, follow shipyard and NAVSEA requirements, and complete assigned electrical work safely and accurately.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of shipboard electrical systems and equipment.
• Read, interpret, and work from NAVSEA electrical drawings (DWGs), schematics, and technical documentation.
• Demonstrate experience with CTWDS closeout procedures.
• Understand the process for opening, maintaining, and closing out Work Authorization Forms (WAFs).
• Perform electrical testing and troubleshooting using multimeters, Meggers, and other electrical test equipment.
• Perform temporary and permanent power hookups as required.
• Verify electrical circuits, connections, and equipment for proper operation.
• Follow established shipyard safety procedures, electrical safety requirements, and quality standards.
• Coordinate with supervisors and other trades to complete assigned work efficiently.
• Maintain accurate documentation associated with completed electrical work.

Required Qualifications

• Must be a 1st Class Marine Electrician with relevant shipyard or naval vessel experience.
• Must have or be able to meet applicable HII badging/access requirements.
• Must have experience with CTWDS and closing out assigned work.
• Must understand WAF opening and closeout procedures.
• Must be proficient in reading NAVSEA electrical drawings and schematics.
• Must have hands-on experience using multimeters and Meggers.
• Must have previous power hookup experience.
• Strong understanding of marine electrical systems, electrical safety, and shipyard work practices.
• Must be able to work safely and effectively in a shipyard/industrial environment.
