Job Description RN-Registered Nurse // Pediatrics CVICU Weekly stipend: $1,477 – hourly $28 – base pay $1,008 On-site contract; start date 5/25/2026; 13 weeks Night shift: 12 hours/day, 3 days/week Unit Information About Facility: 247 Licensed Beds Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center Teaching Hospital Chest Pain Center Certified Stroke Center Congenital Cardiology ranked #7 by U.S. News & World Report Radius rule: Traveler’s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit Unit: 20 beds, two sides of 10 beds each, centralized nursing station, most critical patients placed behind the station Required experience: 2 years Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience at a similar acuity facility First‑time traveler accepted: Yes Patient Types / Common Diagnoses High‑acuity population ages 0‑18 years Congenital heart disease patients—post‑surgery, pre‑transplant, post‑transplant, s/p cath lab, ventricular assist devices, ECMO, Impella, dialysis, Aquadex (renal replacement therapy) Patient Ratios RN: 2:1, 1:1, or 1:2 depending on acuity CNA: none – 1 NA per day for unit secretary duties and nursing support Required Licensure & Certifications BLS PALS NIHSS Skills Required Experience with fresh open‑heart postoperative patients, transplant care, Aquadex, Impella, ECMO EPIC EMR experience Competency to float to PICU Support within Department CNA duties: 1 healthcare tech per day for unit secretary tasks, runners, bathing, etc. Unit secretary present every shift Charge nurse – free floating Phlebotomy – in house (not utilized heavily) IV/VAT team – available Resource nurse – free floating RT, Cardiologist, Intensivist – 24/7 Telemetry monitoring tech – not required; monitoring is centralized and bedside Technology / Equipment EMR: EPIC – required IV pump: Alaris Medication dispensing: Omnicell Monitors: Phillips Floating Possible floating to PICU, NICU, General Pediatrics as needed Orientation NEO 2 days departmental training Scheduling Weekend rotation: every other weekend or fewer as needed (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) Call requirement: yes, based on prior date Holiday expectations: travelers work 75% of holidays, unit requires every other holiday RTO: Manager approval Shift times: 0645‑1845, 1845‑0645 Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks Other Notes Scrub color: Navy Parking: free Unit culture: teamwork, trust, accountability Benefits Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits: medical, dental, vision, retirement options Equal‑opportunity employer committed to an inclusive and diverse workforce #J-18808-Ljbffr
