Uniformed Timekeeper and Benefits Assistant

Job Description and Duties

This limited-term position may be extended up to a ma x imum of 24 months ,  with the  possibility of becoming permanent.

Under the general supervision of the Office Services supervisor II, the Office Assistant (Typing) performs as the Academy uniformed timekeeper, benefits assistant, maintains personnel files, and provides general clerical support. The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure the timely submission of CHP 415 (Daily Field Records), and submit corrected or late CHP 415s for approval. Prepare, reconcile, and distribute the monthly timekeeping reports; maintain absence reports; submit the Work Period Overtime Reconciliation,and Special Project Coded Overtime Reports, as appropriate. As the Benefits Assistant, the Office Assistant (Typing) will code, process, submit and file benefits documents for Academy staff. Additional duties include maintaining personnel files of Academy staff, processing confidential personnel forms and providing receptionist coverage during the absences.

Working Conditions

The Office Assistant will work both indoors and outdoors. While indoors, the temperature and humidity are reasonably controlled, and while outdoors, the employee is exposed to climatic conditions.  

Special Requirements

• The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. Additional information regarding acceptable typing tests is available at the CalCareers.ca.gov website.
• The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
