Position Summary

The lunchroom and playground supervisor is responsible for the supervision of students during the daily lunchroom and playground times. They assist students in the lunchroom and playground and ensure student safety and appropriate behavior is maintained at all times.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent
• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.

Responsibilities Include

• Supervise students in the lunchroom and on the playground to ensure student safety and positive social interaction.
• Monitor student behavior and enforce school rules in a fair and consistent manner.
• Assist students with lunch procedures (e.g., lining up, disposing of waste properly, following lunchroom routines).
• Intervene in conflicts or unsafe behavior using appropriate behavior management techniques.
• Provide basic first aid when needed and report injuries or incidents to appropriate school staff.
• Communicate concerns about student behavior or safety to teachers, administrators, or school support staff.
• Encourage appropriate play and help facilitate conflict resolution among students.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in the lunchroom and playground areas.
• Attend training or staff meetings as required.

Skills

• Must be able to stand, walk, and actively monitor students for extended periods.
• Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (recess is often held outside).
• May involve exposure to noise and other environmental factors typical of school lunchrooms and playgrounds.
• Requires concentrated mental and visual attention to maintain safety and discipline of all the students in the lunchroom and playground areas.
• Requires tact and patience in dealing with students.

Terms Of Employment

This is a 2025-2026, 180 Day per year position. Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education.
