Ambulatory Triage RN

Job Summary This position works under general supervision of Nursing Supervisor, Clinic Manager, or Clinical Practice Manager to provide nursing triage of all patient messages received via telephone or MyChart. The triage nurse will demonstrate sound clinical judgment that utilizes careful listening, critical thinking and assessment skills. Experience: Two (2) years of ambulatory clinical nursing experience or emergency room experience is preferred. Job Duties Utilize strong listening skills to interpret subtle indications of a patient’s complaint, allowing for thorough assessment without visual observation. Follow clinic‑specific protocols and professional judgment to determine urgency and appropriate disposition. Provide patient education and advice to improve continuity of care, avoid unnecessary emergency room visits, and reduce risks of complications. Collect sufficient data regarding the presenting problem and medical history, recognizing and matching symptom patterns to clinic protocols for safe, timely disposition. Refill medications per clinic‑specific protocols. Perform duties that may include one or more of the following core functions: (a) Direct interaction with or care for patients; (b) Direct interaction with or care for human‑subject research participants; (c) Regular maintenance, modification, or release of patient records, including financial records; or (d) Regular maintenance, modification, or release of human‑subject research records. Perform other duties as assigned.
