Senior Patent Agent - REMOTE

Cepheid, a Danaher operating company, seeks a Senior Patent Agent to develop and execute intellectual property protection strategies for molecular diagnostic technologies. The role involves collaborating with R&D and legal teams, prosecuting patent applications, and advising internal stakeholders on IP matters.
Responsibilities
- Partner with R&D teams to identify intellectual property opportunities in molecular diagnostic technologies
- Draft, prosecute, and manage patent applications in molecular diagnostics and biochemistry
- Conduct freedom-to-operate studies including infringement and validity analyses
- Direct outside counsel on global patent filing and prosecution matters
- Prepare training materials for business stakeholders on invention disclosure and IP protection
Requirements
- Registered Patent Agent with U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
- At least 4 years of patent prosecution experience in life sciences
- Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, biology, or related discipline
- Hands-on experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications in molecular diagnostics
- Strong technical understanding of molecular biology techniques and patent claim development
- Excellent writing, communication, and analytical skills
Compensation: $150,000-$190,000 base, plus bonus/incentive pay eligibility
