Job Title: Manufacturing Associate II The Manufacturing Associate II supports reagent formulation and consumable manufacturing by performing hands‑on laboratory and production activities, quality control testing, and work order processing. This role focuses on the preparation of reagents and buffers, execution and improvement of batch records and SOPs, and maintaining accurate inventory to ensure products are completed to specification and delivered to inventory. The Manufacturing Associate II also contributes to process troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and supports R&D and process development activities in a fast‑paced, multi‑disciplinary environment. Responsibilities Perform assigned manufacturing tasks for reagents and buffers in accordance with established procedures and quality standards. Execute simple buffer formulations up to 50L, ensuring accuracy of components, measurements, and documentation. Perform troubleshooting on formulations, filling processes, packaging operations, and analytical techniques to resolve issues and maintain product quality. Conduct quality control procedures for consumables, including testing and verification of reagent performance and specifications. Carry out data collection and analysis related to manufacturing runs, quality control results, and process performance. Process work orders to completion, ensuring finished products are accurately built, labeled, and moved into inventory. Execute batch records and standard operating procedures (SOPs) and contribute to their improvement to enhance clarity, efficiency, and compliance. Identify gaps and weaknesses in SOPs, batch records, formulations, and workflows for finished goods and component materials, and propose improvements. Maintain accurate inventory of materials through routine cycle counts, ordering, and receipt of raw materials and consumables. Provide fill support, ensuring proper operation of filling equipment and adherence to fill volumes and packaging requirements. Provide kit support, including the ability to lead a production line to assemble kits and coordinate activities to meet production goals. Support R&D development by fulfilling daily reagent and consumable needs and updating daily usage to ensure availability of materials. Perform calibration, validation, and troubleshooting of reagent formulation equipment and instruments to maintain reliable operation. Work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team with scientists, engineers, and manufacturing personnel to support R&D and process improvement activities. Operate effectively in a fast‑paced environment with rapidly shifting priorities while maintaining high quality and safety standards. Use software tools such as Excel, Word, Confluence, and web‑based programs to document activities, analyze data, and update records. Develop and update bills of materials (BOMs) as needed to reflect accurate component and material requirements for products. Follow work instructions (WIs), batch records (BRs), and SOPs to ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory expectations. Perform general laboratory tasks, including use of pH meters, conductivity meters, UV-Vis spectrophotometers, and other standard lab equipment. Carry out other duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations and continuous improvement initiatives. Essential Skills Expirience in biochemistry or chemistry with understanding of reagent and buffer formulation principles. Hands‑on experience using pH meters, conductivity meters, UV-Vis spectrophotometers, and other standard laboratory equipment. Experience working with SOPs, batch records (BRs), and work instructions (WIs) in a manufacturing or laboratory environment. General laboratory skills, including safe handling of chemicals, accurate measurements, and proper documentation practices. Ability to perform formulations and reagent preparation with attention to detail and adherence to specifications. Experience with quality control (QC) procedures for reagents and consumables, including data collection and analysis. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and support troubleshooting activities. Proficiency with Excel, Word, Confluence, and similar web‑based or documentation programs for recording and analyzing data. Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively on cross‑functional teams. Highly organized and flexible, able to manage multiple tasks and adapt to rapidly shifting priorities. Detail‑oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills suitable for documenting processes and reporting results. A Bachelor of Science degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, molecular biology, or other related life science discipline is preferred, with 0–2 years of relevant experience in consumable manufacturing (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered). Additional Skills & Qualifications Troubleshooting experience in formulations, filling processes, packaging, and analytical techniques is preferred. Experience with formulation, fill, packaging, and chromatography in a laboratory or manufacturing setting is preferred. Experience with developing and updating bills of materials (BOMs) is preferred. Familiarity with reagents, buffer formulations, and general biochemistry or chemistry laboratory workflows. Comfort working with UV-Vis and other analytical instruments to support QC and process monitoring. Ability to lead a production line for kit support, coordinating tasks and ensuring production targets are met. Experience in consumable manufacturing for research or clinical markets is beneficial. Demonstrated ability to identify process and documentation gaps and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.50/hr.
