Join to apply for the MCE Lead Wind Technician role at Audubon Companies Wind Turbine Major Component Exchange Lead Technicians specialize in large corrective exchanges at the assigned Wind Turbine site through established procedures with the highest regard for health, safety, and environment compliance. MCE Lead technicians carry out tasks such as cleaning, organizing, disassembly and assembly of large components of wind turbines. As required, they assist and direct work in, dismantling, erecting, aligning, adjusting, and/or maintaining machinery and equipment according to installation manuals, work instructions, layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings. They are required to climb vertically at least 300 feet to work at heights. Certified Wind Turbine Technicians must maintain all certifications required for the position. MCE technicians are assigned to multiple projects over a rotation period and are expected to travel to remote client sites. The MCE Lead tech will be responsible for timely reporting of crew activities, task completions, and safety concerns to management. Responsibilities Work with site leadership to execute all contractual obligations and activities set forth with the customers daily, which can include any portion of the electrical, mechanical or balance-of-plant equipment on site. Act as a lead team member to support site work. Supervise field work onsite focusing on safety, quality, and efficiency. Conduct daily safety and task planning discussions. Interact with vendors and customers in a professional manner. Conduct Pre-task planning, JHAs, and RAs. Perform repairs or replacements of mechanical, hydraulic and/or electrical components to correct malfunctions. Perform large component exchanges on Wind Turbine Generators (WTG). Oversee lifting operations following skills verification of large components and ability to create, review, correct, and amend lifting plans. Occasional maintenance of equipment (cleaning, greasing, lubrication, etc.). Lead and assist with other daily work activities related to all areas of site operations, as directed by management, with minimal supervision. Coordinate with engineering support team for additional troubleshooting/diagnostic assistance. Document all work in electronic formats. Perform LOTO of equipment as an Authorized Person. Demonstrate proper PPE usage and compliance with procedures. Complete and maintain required company and client documentation and records using electronic service reporting tools. Clean and organize tools, equipment, and work area (sweeping, mopping, wiping spills). Operate a motor vehicle safely and legally per company policies and insurance requirements. Maintain required training certifications for the position held (minimum: OSHA 10, NFPA 70E, CPR/AED - First Aid). Perform torqueing/tensioning of multiple bolted connections in line with installation manuals and bolt torque specs. Test electrical components and systems, as well as mechanical and hydraulic systems. Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical malfunctions. Read and interpret schematics from various Wind Turbine manufacturers. Assist with first aid when needed and perform tower rescues if required. Experience and Skill Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent. Active GWO Basic Safety Training certificate preferred. Direct Turbine Specific experience is required. MCE experience required with additional knowledge in lifting operations. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, assembly/disassembly, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Self-motivated with high level of integrity.
