Job TitleUnder direct supervision, perform basic mechanical assembly operations on production units.Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARYUnder direct supervision, perform basic mechanical assembly operations on production units.ESSENTIAL DUTIES, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLSRead and interpret basic blueprints, wiring diagrams, specifications, and work orders to determine materials requirements or assembly instructionsAssist with or assemble basic sections of machines to customer specifications; attach unit to assembly, subassembly or frame using various hand and power toolsPerform basic mechanical assembly operations to exacting tolerances; position and align parts using fixtures, jigs and templates; work with rotating shafts, gear trains, mechanical structures, and sprockets.Drill, tap, ream, countersink, and spot face bolt holes in parts; file, lap and buff parts to fit; clean and lubricate parts and subassembliesUse measuring instruments to level and align work, detect and eliminate run-out, work to close tolerances with a demand for square, concentricity and parallelism.Assist with the detection of defective material, unusual conditions or operating difficulties and report to supervisorAttend team meetings; may provide input on quality, cost, or production issuesRegularly and effectively communicate and interact with other team membersRegular and predictable attendance at the worksite and on any assigned shift or work schedule is required for this position, as is the ability to work frequent overtime; this is not a job that can be performed remotelyPerform all work in accordance with established safety proceduresMaintain work area and equipment in clean, orderly and safe mannerEducationHigh school diploma or equivalent.
