AP/Staff Accountant (Consulting)

For more information, visit SolomonEdwards Position Summary: We are seeking an AP/Staff Accountant to join a leading manufacturing organization with operations across the United States. This contract-to-hire opportunity is responsible for managing full-cycle Accounts Payable while supporting month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, tax filings, and audit activities in a collaborative accounting environment. Process vendor invoices with accurate coding and required approvals. Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documentation. Prepare weekly check runs following payment terms and company policies. Reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve vendor discrepancies. Review employee expense reports for policy compliance. Prepare journal entries and support month-end close activities. Perform bank and account reconciliations, including inventory accounts. Support sales tax, 1099 filings, and annual audit requirements. Maintain GAAP compliance and strengthen internal controls. Perform additional accounting duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field. 2-4+ years of progressive Staff Accountant experience. Corporate Accounts Payable experience required. Experience supporting month-end and year-end close processes. Experience with general ledger accounting. ERP/MRP system experience preferred. Skills and Job-Specific Competencies: Experience with Accounts Payable and General Ledger accounting. Working knowledge of GAAP and accrual accounting principles. Experience performing bank and account reconciliations. Experience preparing or supporting sales tax and 1099 reporting. Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Experience using ERP and/or MRP systems. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Travel Requirements: No travel will be required, unless at the client's discretion. Salary Range: SolomonEdwards values your unique and individual experience and background. As such, we take a comprehensive approach when determining compensation for our roles. The compensation for this specific role is based on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to education, licensure and certifications, location, experience, and training.
