Employee Status: Regular Unit: The A6NS unit functions as an inpatient hospital medicine unit for children of all ages with acute and chronic medical conditions, comprising 48 beds with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:4. Primary population consists of healthy children admitted from the ED, with a smaller chronic population. Compensation Expected Starting Pay Range: $37.00 – $41.40 Pay may include shift, on‑call, and weekend differentials as well as benefits; annual pay may vary based on FTE status. Job Responsibilities Compliance and regulatory support: sustain understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards, support leadership in compliance efforts, monitor safety, maintain certifications, collaborate with leadership, and communicate compliance concerns. Systems thinking: view patient, family, and unit as integrated components, support patient families and coordinate care, maintain regulatory compliance and safety policies, and communicate concerns to leadership. Clinical judgment: collect clinical data, follow algorithms and protocols, make appropriate decisions, document plans of care, anticipate future needs, integrate age‑specific and developmental concepts, and facilitate educational interactions using teach‑back. Clinical inquiry and performance review: follow standards and guidelines, implement evidence‑based changes, identify when to seek help, engage in self‑appraisal, peer review, and mentoring, and share safety best practices with the department. Collaboration: participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, shared governance, and team‑based decision making. Interprofessional practice: consistently apply the Interprofessional Practice Model in all aspects of practice. Advocacy and inclusion: represent patients, assess ethical conflicts, make ethical decision‑making, recognize cultural inclusion, and incorporate cultural concepts into patient care. Patient care: consistently integrate age‑specific and culturally inclusive concepts into care, considering chronological age and developmental functioning. Job Qualifications Associate/Diploma RN from an ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA accredited institution with 2+ years of experience; if hired without a BSN or MSN, must enroll in a BSN or MSN program within one year and complete within five years. Preferred: BSN from an accredited institution or MSN. Active Ohio RN License; other state licensure may be required. Foreign graduates must have license validated through TruMerit per Ohio Board of Nursing code for Foreign Graduates.
