Overview As a Litigation Paralegal at Compass Law Group you are not a support function. You are a critical member of the litigation team — the engine behind every case strategy, the foundation beneath every attorneys work, and the steady hand that keeps complex litigation moving forward with precision and purpose. You will work directly alongside our litigation attorneys — supporting, anticipating, and executing at the highest level. You will know your cases inside and out. You will see issues before they become problems. You will bring solutions before you are asked for them. And you will do it all with the kind of professionalism, discretion, and commitment that our clients deserve. Responsibilities Discovery Management – Architect of the discovery process. Draft, propound, and respond to written discovery (interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission) with precision, strategy, and a deep understanding of what each case needs. Organize and manage discovery responses with meticulous attention to detail and ensure nothing is ever missed or late. Medical Record Review & Case Analysis – Obtain, organize, and analyze medical records, bills, and treatment documentation with a sharp eye. Translate complex medical information into clear, compelling summaries that give our attorneys exactly what they need to build and argue the strongest possible case. Deposition Preparation Support – Prepare deposition summaries, organize exhibits, and assist attorneys in building deposition outlines and strategies. Read deposition transcripts for the details that matter and flag them before anyone has to ask. Motion Drafting & Legal Research – Draft motions, oppositions, briefs, and supporting documents with confidence, clarity, and legal precision. Conduct thorough legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, or similar platforms and present findings in a way that is immediately actionable. Trial Preparation & Support – Assist in preparing trial binders, exhibit lists, witness files, and trial notebooks with organizational thoroughness. When trial comes you are in the room — ready to execute whatever is needed in real time. Case File Management – Maintain impeccably organized case files — physical and digital — ensuring that every document, deadline, and critical piece of information is exactly where it needs to be when it needs to be there. Court Filing & Procedural Compliance – Manage all aspects of court filings (electronic and physical) with complete accuracy and strict adherence to court rules, local rules, and procedural requirements. Know Los Angeles Superior Court and ensure nothing is filed late or incorrectly. Expert Coordination – Coordinate with expert witnesses — medical experts, accident reconstructionists, economists, and others — scheduling, managing communications, and ensuring all expert materials are organized and prepared to support case strategy and trial preparation. Client Communication – Communicate with clients professionally, compassionately, and clearly. Provide updates, gather information, and ensure clients always feel informed and supported throughout the litigation process. Deadline & Calendar Management – Work closely with our calendaring clerk to track every deadline — statutes of limitations, discovery cutoffs, motion deadlines, court dates — with absolute precision. Never miss a deadline. Who You Are You are a seasoned litigation paralegal who brings both technical expertise and genuine passion to the work. You are organized to a level that borders on extraordinary. You anticipate what is needed before it is asked. You communicate with clarity and professionalism. And you never, under any circumstances, lose sight of the person at the center of every case you touch. Qualifications Minimum 3–5 years of plaintiff personal injury litigation paralegal experience. Proven experience managing all phases of personal injury litigation from complaint through trial. Strong discovery drafting and management skills (interrogatories, RPDs, RFAs, and responses). Demonstrated ability to read, analyze, and summarize medical records and treatment documentation. Experience with motion drafting, legal research, and brief preparation. Hands‑on trial preparation and trial support experience. Proficiency in e‑filing with Los Angeles Superior Court and familiarity with local rules and procedures. Strong working knowledge of case management software (Filevine, or similar platforms). Proficiency in Westlaw, LexisNexis, or comparable legal research platforms. Exceptional organizational and time‑management skills with an obsessive eye for detail. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously without sacrificing quality or missing deadlines. Bilingual in Spanish and English – strongly preferred. Bonus Qualifications Paralegal certificate or degree from an ABA‑approved program. Experience with catastrophic injury, wrongful death, or complex personal injury litigation. Familiarity with Medicare, Medi‑Cal, lien resolution, and subrogation. Experience working directly alongside litigation attorneys in a fast‑paced high‑volume PI firm. Knowledge of medical terminology and personal injury treatment protocols. This Position Is Not For You If You need constant supervision and direction to manage your caseload. Compensation and Benefits Base Salary: $35.00 per hour – $50.00 per hour (DOE) Performance Bonuses: Annual performance‑based incentives.
