The Opportunity
As a Billing Services Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting the Billing Services Team with a wide range of billing tasks including, but not limited to, daily time entries, assisting with invoice back up, client data entry changes, client rate changes etc. You will be responsible for working cross-functionally with various team members to ensure the data on the invoices is correct before the invoice is submitted to the Client by our Billing team.
The Day-To-Day
On any given day, you will:
- Review and enter all rate exceptions. Working with billing coordinators, secretaries, and/or partners to clarify distinct rate requirements prior to processing.
- Ensure timekeeper maintenance, including opening and terminating timekeepers in Aderant.
- Maintain the online workflow database and accurately enter client and matter information in the financial system
- Responsible for processing maintenance requests submitted to the CMI email inbox
- Advise firm attorneys and support staff in all offices regarding intake form and system setup questions
- Maintain DailyTime mailbox and respond to individual requests.
- Initiate requests for supporting documentation and review for accuracy.
- Log, generate, and distribute financial reports based on audit requests from clients in a timely fashion.
- Perform additional general office duties as assigned by the Billing Services Supervisor, including answering calls for the department, opening mail and preparing mail logs, responding to email requests and supporting various office administrative requests.
- Assist with back-up requests as needed.
You Have
- College degree preferred or equivalent work experience
- One year of legal billing experience preferred
- Experience with Aderant Expert preferred
- Proficiency in basic Microsoft Office
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize effectively

Location Specific Language
The salary range for this role is $50,000 to $52,000 annually, which is based on a 35-hour work week. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Chicago. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for an annual merit increase and bonus pay.
