The Cook will play a key role in preparing nutritious, high-quality meals for our patients and staff. You will work in collaboration with the kitchen team to ensure meals are prepared following dietary guidelines and special requests for patients. This position requires a passion for cooking, an understanding of food safety, and a commitment to contributing to a positive, supportive environment for both patients and staff. 

rotate shifts: 8:00am-5:30pm and 7:00am-3:30pm             Location: Florida Medical Center

Pay range: $16-18/hr

Schedule: M-F and every other weekend 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes, ensuring food meets quality, taste, and dietary requirements.
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen area, following food safety guidelines (HACCP).
• Assist with meal plating and food presentation, ensuring meals are visually appealing and appetizing.
• Help manage food inventory, rotating stock, and maintaining appropriate portion control.
• Provide assistance to the Lead Cook and Kitchen Manager in the development of meal plans and preparation schedules.
• Work closely with dietary staff to accommodate patient-specific dietary needs, such as low-sodium or gluten-free diets.
• Adhere to proper sanitation and safety practices in the kitchen.
• Assist in preparing special meals for holidays, events, or celebrations as needed.
• Participate in team meetings, providing input on menu suggestions, food quality, and patient feedback.

Qualifications: 

• Previous cooking experience in a healthcare, restaurant, or institutional setting is preferred.
• Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to follow recipes and meal plans accurately.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Good communication skills and ability to follow directions.
