Dispatcher, Patient Transport

Job Title: Dispatcher Location: CMC Support Department Name: Patient Transport Req #: 0000246959 Status: Hourly Shift: Day Pay Range: $16.79 - $18.78 per hour Pay Transparency: The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience. Job Overview: The Patient Transporter Dispatcher dispatches the transporters to move patients within the hospital network in wheelchairs or stretchers from time of admission until discharge. They will transport patients as necessary. Qualifications: Required: * High School Diploma or equivalent * Hospital Patient Transport experience Preferred: * Prior Dispatch experience Scheduling Requirements: * 6:30am-3:00pm * Rotating weekends and holidays * Full Time Essential Functions: * Recognizes and prioritizes patient test and distributes to transporter in a timely manner * Coordinates patient test with schedules areas and informs departments of any changes * Coordinates transporters breaks and follows proper chain off command when disciplinary action is needed with staff * Assist Nursing personnel in moving patients into chair or onto stretcher following standard procedures * Follows appropriate patient identification procedures to assure transport of proper patient * Answers patients questions during transport in a courteous manner. Remains alert to patients condition during transport and immediately informs appropriate authority of any unusual incidents or patient concerns * Notifies responsible personnel of patients arrival and delivers medical chart to appropriate area within the receiving unit * Cleans and sanitizes transport equipment utilizing appropriate disinfecting materials after each patient use. Disposes of all soiled linen used during transport in the proper laundry facilities located in patients room * Reports and identifies any suspected transport equipment malfunction for needed repairs to supervisor to ensure patient safety * Returns transport equipment to proper area to ensure fire and safety regulations * Responds to various request for wheelchairs and stretchers by locating equipment and delivering it to the requesting unit * Responsible for monitoring of 02 Flow Meters to ensure adequate 02 flow during patient transport * Attends all classes and in-services required by department policies * Follows all break and lunch schedules and returns in a timely fashion * Demonstrates the ability to identify what the patients educational needs are * Demonstrates and performs lateral lifting in a safe manner Benefits and Perks: At RWJBarnabas Health, our employees are at the heart of everything we do.
