PLC Programmer - Automation

Home Base: Livonia, MI
Travel: Approximately 50% travel to client sites

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced PLC Programmer to develop, program, troubleshoot, and commission industrial automation systems for a variety of manufacturing clients. This role is based out of Livonia, Michigan , with approximately 50% travel to customer facilities for installation, startup, commissioning, and technical support. The ideal candidate has strong experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation , Siemens , and Telemecanique (Schneider Electric) control systems and enjoys working in a hands-on, customer-focused environment.

Responsibilities

Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLC systems for industrial automation applications.
Develop and modify PLC logic , HMI applications , and automation software.
Perform system startup, testing, commissioning, and validation at customer sites.
Diagnose and resolve electrical controls, PLC, and automation system issues.
Work with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation , Siemens , and Telemecanique (Schneider Electric) hardware and software.
Interpret electrical schematics, control panel drawings, and wiring diagrams.
Support machine integration, process improvements, and production optimization.
Collaborate with engineering, project management, and customer teams to ensure successful project completion.
Provide technical documentation, programming updates, and customer training as needed.
Travel approximately 50% to customer locations for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and service.

Qualifications

Experience programming Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation PLCs .
Experience with Siemens PLCs and industrial automation platforms.
Experience with Telemecanique (Schneider Electric) controls and automation equipment.
Proficiency with PLC programming , HMI development , and industrial control systems.
Knowledge of industrial networking, field I/O, motor controls, sensors, and electrical control systems.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in manufacturing or industrial environments.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50% .
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to client sites.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with FactoryTalk View , Studio 5000/RSLogix , TIA Portal , WinCC , or similar automation software.
Experience with SCADA , VFDs , servo systems, industrial communications ( EtherNet/IP , Profinet , Modbus ), and machine commissioning.
Experience supporting manufacturing, automotive, or industrial automation projects.
