Position Summary

The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of raw materials, finished goods, and inventory throughout the warehouse and production areas. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate inventory, supporting shipping and receiving operations, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate sit-down, stand-up, reach truck, and other powered industrial equipment safely and efficiently.
• Load and unload inbound and outbound shipments.
• Transport materials between warehouse locations and production areas.
• Accurately scan and record inventory transactions using warehouse management systems (WMS) and handheld RF scanners.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
• Pick, stage, and prepare orders for shipment according to customer requirements.
• Verify incoming materials against purchase orders and shipping documents.
• Maintain warehouse organization and cleanliness in accordance with GMP, safety, and company standards.
• Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory procedures.
• Assist with cycle counts and physical inventories.
• Adhere to all OSHA, food safety, and company policies and procedures.
• Support team members and perform additional warehouse duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of forklift operating experience in a warehouse or distribution environment.
• Ability to operate forklifts safely and effectively.
• Basic computer skills and experience using RF scanners.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

• Forklift certification.
• Experience with SAP, WMS, or ERP systems.
• Experience in food ingredient, chemical, or manufacturing warehouse environments.
• Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry materials up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in warehouse environments with varying temperatures.
• Ability to safely operate powered industrial trucks for extended periods.

Work Environment

• Warehouse and distribution setting.
• Exposure to warehouse equipment, moving machinery, and material handling operations.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required as needed.
