Senior Accountant - Real Estate
National Realty Corp
National Realty Corporation is looking for a senior accountant to join our team. We welcome experienced accountants from any industry, and real estate experience is a plus but not required. You'll work closely with our leadership, and help other members of the accounting team grow.
What You'll Do
- Own the month-end close and prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for your portfolio
- Review the work of staff accountants and bookkeepers, and help train new team members
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations
- Review lease abstracts and tenant billings for accuracy (rent, CAM, utilities, and other recoveries)
- Prepare and review CAM and real estate tax reconciliations
- Lead budgeting and forecasting for property operations and capital projects
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and track capital projects
- Strengthen and follow internal controls and accounting procedures
- Partner with property managers, leasing teams, and executives to resolve tenant and vendor issues
- Coordinate audits, tax filings, and lender reporting
- Provide financial analysis to support acquisitions, sales, and refinancing
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of accounting experience in any industry (real estate or property management is a plus)
- Experience with accounting software; Yardi, MRI, Infor, AppFolio, or similar systems are helpful, and we'll train you on ours
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and mentor others
- Excellent communication skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with CAM reconciliations, real estate tax, or utility billing
- Familiarity with commercial or residential lease structures
- CPA (a plus, not required)
