Lead Software Engineer, Portfolio Construction

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We require formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, along with 5+ years of applied experience.
• We expect hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• We need advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python or Java, including experience developing, debugging, and maintaining production code.
• We require practical cloud-native experience, including hands-on work with AWS services and cloud delivery practices such as Terraform, Amazon S3, Amazon EC2, and Amazon EMR.
• We look for demonstrated experience leading the effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, with the ability to define expectations for validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• We require a strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resiliency and security expectations.
• We expect proficiency across all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle.
• We require advanced understanding of agile practices such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
• We need in-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems.
• Preferred: experience with distributed data processing using Spark and modern data platforms such as Databricks.
• Preferred: proficiency in data engineering and platform development.
• Preferred: experience with relational databases such as Oracle and/or cloud data platforms, including performance tuning and query optimization.
• Preferred: strong analytical skills supporting data understanding, quality investigation, and reporting use cases.
• Preferred: knowledge of banking and financial services domain concepts relevant to data processing and reporting.

• We design, develop, and troubleshoot software solutions creatively, using approaches that go beyond routine methods to solve technical problems.
• We build secure, high-quality production code and review and debug code written by others.
• We drive adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, while maintaining consistent validation standards and promoting reuse of effective patterns.
• We apply knowledge of SDLC tools, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value delivered through automation.
• We identify opportunities to remove or automate fixes for recurring issues to improve the stability of software applications and systems.
• We lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and fit within existing systems and information architecture.
• We work as part of an agile front-office technology team to help build applications supporting the investment management cycle, including research, portfolio management, and investment.
• We collaborate with stakeholders to develop functional specifications and support business objectives across multiple technical areas.
