TEACHER ASSISTANT/BUS DRIVER

Teacher AssistantReports to: PrincipalPurpose: To serve primarily as an instructional assistant and work with children. To support the Teacher in organizing and preparing instructional materials. To support the daily functions and activities of the classroom and school.Qualifications:48 semester hours which include core courses with an overall 2.5 or higher GPA from an accredited institution; ORAssociate Degree or higher with an overall 2.5 or higher GPA from an accredited institution; ORWorkKeys testing in Applied Math - (min score 4); Workplace Documents - (min score 4); and Business Writing - (min score 3).Obtain and maintain bus licensePhysical Requirements:Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.Key Duties and Responsibilities:Serve primarily as an instructional assistant and spend the majority of time working with students.Assists the teacher in ensuring a safe and healthful environment.Enforce school and classroom rules and expectations consistently.Interacts effectively with students, teachers, administrators, co-workers, parents and communityConducts self as a role model, exhibiting positive behavior.Work may consist of being assigned to work with a grade, class or department and not assigned to a specific teacher and will be utilized based on the needs of the school.Will comply with all administrative directives in a timely and professional manner, including written directives regarding specific issues or behaviors.Will exhibit punctuality and regular attendance.Demonstrates a strong work ethic,Maintains confidentiality.Performs other duties as assigned by the teacher and/or principal in a timely and professional manner.Term of Employment: 10 monthsBus DriverReports to: PrincipalPurpose: To safely transport children to and from assigned schoolQualifications:High school diploma or equivalency preferredMust be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL), P&S endorsementsMust be able to successfully complete a medical examinationMust be required to successfully complete the physical standards testing set forth by the School bus and Traffic Safety Section of the NC Division of Motor Vehicles and the school system's transportation departmentKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to meet and maintain legal and physical requirements for North Carolina School Bus Certification and local rules.Ability to operate and maneuver a school bus with proficiency.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with all levels.Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations.Ability to earn the respect of the students of all ages and act sensitively to their needs.Key Duties and Responsibilities:Maintain current bus licenses through required training.Drives a school bus safely and professionally.Maintains order and discipline of students assigned to the school bus in accordance with the School Board policies pertaining to discipline and school Code of Conduct.Completes daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of a school bus.Bus must be cleaned and well maintained by driver.Mechanical problems must be reported immediately at the bus garage, View phone number on click.appcast.io)Accurately complete time sheets and submit these to designated principals on time each month. It is imperative that time sheets reflect accurately the time and people on each bus. Like all jobs, paying substitutes is expensive and this benefit should be used when necessary due to illness.Will contact principal if any student is on the bus longer than an hour and fifteen minutes each way. The principal will work with the director of safety to determine the most efficient route time. Attempts will be made to shorten routes and lengthen school says in these cases.Term of Employment: 10-Months
