Job Summary Palo Alto Networks is building a world‑class product management organization and continues to look for top‑notch technical marketing leaders to define our strategic direction. As a Senior Principal Technical Marketing Engineer (TME) for Software Firewalls, you will act as a foundational pillar of our team, providing architectural leadership, visionary technical guidance, and strategic alignment for our partners, enterprise customers, and global sales force. In this highly visible leadership role, you will work at the absolute cutting edge of technology, redefining and pioneering the future of Cloud network security. You will lead the technical go‑to‑market strategy for products that protect data, workloads, and infrastructure for the largest and most complex enterprise customers in the world. You will architect the customer journey to the Hybrid Cloud, ensuring they have best‑in‑class protection at every stage. Furthermore, you will define and spearhead the global Palo Alto Networks technical marketing strategy for Software Firewalls. This includes shaping outbound technical communication, defining enterprise best practices, leading deep‑dive competitive architectural reviews, designing advanced automated POC/Demo environments, and driving alignment across internal executive stakeholders. As a Senior Principal TME, you will act as a key advisor to Product Management and Engineering, shaping PRDs and engineering specs to ensure market dominance. You will distill and document highly complex technical concepts to ensure our products are not only understood but positioned as the definitive industry standard. You are a visionary self‑starter, continuously staying ahead of emerging technologies and industry shifts. You excel at identifying unarticulated market needs, shaping the long‑term direction of the company’s portfolio, and mentoring senior engineers. You thrive in ambiguity and embrace the challenge of defining and launching category‑creating products to the global market. Qualifications 8+ years of experience as a Technical Marketing Engineer, Enterprise Solutions Architect, or in a senior technical leadership role, specifically within enterprise networking or cybersecurity. Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degree (Master's or equivalent) is highly preferred. Cloud Mastery: Architectural-level expertise in at least one major public cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP) and a deep, authoritative understanding of Public Cloud security principles and architectures. SaaS & Operations: Extensive experience designing and supporting SaaS products at scale, managing complex SLAs, and navigating a fast‑paced, hyper‑growth environment. Virtualization & Containers: Deep, hands‑on architectural knowledge of Microsegmentation technologies, KVM, VMware, advanced Virtualization, and Kubernetes/Container security paradigms. AI Leadership: Strong understanding of the latest AI trends—including deep learning, Generative AI, and Agentic AI—and the ability to define their security implications and shape our product narrative around them. Automation & IaC: Expert-level proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation/CFT) and advanced scripting (Python, Go, etc.) to drive automation at an enterprise scale. Technical Showcasing: Proven track record of designing, building, and maintaining highly complex, scalable, and automated POC and Demo environments for global field enablement. Executive Communication: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical architectures into compelling business value for both deeply technical audiences and C-level executives. Cross‑Functional Leadership: Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide cross‑functional teams, driving collaboration between PM, Engineering, and global sales teams. Adaptability: Unmatched ability to execute and lead gracefully in a fast‑paced, highly dynamic, and evolving market landscape. Compensation Disclosure The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/com‑missioned roles) is expected to be the annual range listed below.
