(RN) Pulmonary Specialty Clinic Nurse - 140579

Overview Position: Pulmonary Specialty Clinic Nurse (RN). The role coordinates outpatient clinic care for patients with advanced pulmonary diseases, providing high-level nursing coordination and care management for complex pulmonary conditions across subspecialty programs (e.g., interstitial lung disease, asthma, alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, COPD). Responsibilities include direct patient care, patient and family education, triage (telephone, MyChart, in-person), scheduling referrals, obtaining outside medical records, ensuring access to medications and durable medical equipment (including oxygen), coordinating prior authorizations, organizing patient education and support activities, advancing research, facilitating multidisciplinary care coordination, and maintaining clinic-specific reports and quality metrics. The nurse collaborates with physicians and the care team to provide access to urgent clinical care outside the clinic and coordinates with outside clinicians, healthcare teams, vendors, hospitals, and community resources to ensure continuity of pulmonary care. The role requires autonomous nursing practice consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance; independent judgment is exercised within interdisciplinary care settings. All performance expectations are at the PRACTITIONER level. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing. RN License issued by the State of California. BLS/CPR and ACLS certification at time of hire with commitment to obtain ART within six (6) months of hire. Three (3) years of directly related experience in a large complex healthcare or clinic setting. One (1) year of nursing experience in an ambulatory care setting. Knowledge of and experience in a Pulmonary setting. Experience with patient triage, In-basket Management, and scheduling appointments. Knowledge of EPIC/Cadence for use in obtaining insurance authorization. Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records. Knowledge and familiarity with various insurance types and the authorization process. Medical terminology, preferably pulmonary medicine. Ability to exercise judgment and make decisions with regard to patient needs. Knowledge of general office operations and principles. Computer skills and data entry experience, especially with charge entry and scheduling. Ability to determine importance of calls and proper area of referral. Solid interpersonal skills and ability to communicate professionally in person and by telephone with diverse groups. Organizational skills and ability to handle a high volume of work accurately and timely. Ability to interpret policies and procedures and apply them. Ability to extract, compile, analyze and present pertinent information. Ability to work independently with limited supervision and to analyze situations and develop options and recommendations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS BSN.

Two (2) years of ambulatory care nursing experience. Knowledge of and experience in a Pulmonary Specialty / Interstitial lung disease clinic. Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families. SPECIAL CONDITIONS May be required to work at all Pulmonary locations. Pay Transparency Pay Range: Annual Full Pay Range: $138,330 - $193,892 (prorated if appointment is less than 100%).
