Director of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) – Multi-Site Operations (U.S. & Mexico) Position Summary The Director of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) provides strategic leadership and oversight for all environmental, health, safety, and regulatory compliance activities across five manufacturing facilities located in the United States and Mexico. This position partners with executive leadership and plant management teams to develop and execute a world‑class EHS culture that protects employees, ensures regulatory compliance, reduces risk, and supports operational excellence. The Director leads the organization's EHS strategy, standardizes processes across facilities, and drives continuous improvement aligned with SQDCT objectives. Primary Responsibilities Strategic Leadership Develop and execute the organization's EHS strategy across five manufacturing facilities, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and operational goals. Establish annual EHS targets, KPIs, and performance metrics while driving accountability throughout the organization. Serve as the primary advisor to executive leadership on environmental, health, safety, and regulatory matters. Foster a proactive safety culture focused on risk reduction, employee engagement, and continuous improvement. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, OSHA, EPA, environmental, and Mexican regulatory requirements. Monitor regulatory changes, implement and lead programs necessary to maintain compliance across all facilities. Direct enterprise‑wide risk assessments to identify and mitigate environmental, health, and safety risks. Lead incident investigations involving serious injuries, environmental events, property damage, and near misses, ensuring effective root cause analysis and corrective actions. Oversee emergency preparedness, business continuity, disaster recovery plans, and crisis response programs. Lead environmental compliance initiatives including air emissions, wastewater, stormwater, hazardous waste, recycling, sustainability, and chemical management programs. Ensure all environmental permits, reports, and regulatory submissions are completed accurately and on time. Develop and lead long‑term sustainability initiatives to reduce environmental impact and support corporate ESG objectives. EHS Management Systems Standardize and maintain EHS management systems across all facilities. Lead ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification efforts, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives. Establish and manage governance processes to ensure EHS documentation, training records, procedures, and compliance records are maintained and readily accessible. Conduct periodic corporate EHS audits and ensure timely closure of corrective actions. Manage waste management – scrap trailers. Operational Support Partner with Plant Managers and Operations Leaders to integrate EHS initiatives into daily operations. Support capital projects, facility expansions, equipment installations, and machine acceptance processes to ensure compliance with safety requirements. Ensure compliance with fire protection standards, highly protected risk (HPR) requirements, and property protection programs. Drive continuous improvement initiatives supporting Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Talent (SQDCT) objectives. Leadership & Team Development Lead, mentor, and develop site EHS professionals across all facilities. Build organizational capability through training, coaching, succession planning, and professional development. Establish consistent training programs, safety leadership expectations, and accountability standards throughout the organization. Facilitate cross‑functional EHS councils and leadership review meetings. Provide safety orientation in Delaware facility to all employees, Hourly and salary. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field required. Master's degree preferred. Minimum 10 years of progressive Environmental, Health & Safety leadership experience within a manufacturing environment. Minimum 5 years of multi‑site EHS management experience, including responsibility for geographically dispersed facilities. Experience supporting manufacturing operations in both the United States and Mexico. Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, environmental regulations, workers' compensation, and Mexican safety and environmental requirements. Experience leading and maintaining ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems. Proven track record of reducing injuries, improving compliance, and building a strong safety culture. Experience leading audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective action programs. Strong business acumen with the ability to influence leaders at all levels of the organization. Ability to travel approximately 30–50% to support multiple facilities after one year in the role.
