Process Engineer for Visual Reasoning Benchmark [Remote]

This role involves contributing to the development of the Industrial Technical Visual Reasoning Benchmark, an evaluation dataset designed to assess AI models'' reasoning capabilities over authentic engineering visuals. As a Process Engineering expert in the fields of Oil & Gas, Chemicals, or Energy, you will create benchmark problems that reflect real-world challenges in your domain.

Your responsibilities will include sourcing genuine professional artifacts such as Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), control-loop diagrams, and plant layouts. You will formulate problems that require more than just textual analysis, ensuring they demand structural, spatial, and multi-step reasoning. Each problem you create will include a clear and concise final answer along with a detailed, step-by-step worked solution that meets professional standards. Additionally, you will categorize each problem by its domain, artifact type, skill tested, and difficulty level, with each problem undergoing independent review by another domain expert prior to publication.

This is a part-time, remote, hourly position ideal for practicing professionals who possess hands-on experience with real process engineering artifacts. The role specifically excludes simplified textbook figures and questions that can be answered through basic lookup, focusing instead on complex reasoning tasks.
