Job Description

VIBRA TRAVELS is seeking a Travel Histology Technician to join our expanding network of healthcare professionals. We're looking for dependable, detail-focused travelers with experience working in a hospital or Outpatient setting. If you're ready to assist while traveling the country, this is your opportunity!


Position Summary:

The Histology Technician is responsible for preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination by a pathologist. This position performs routine histology procedures, including specimen accessioning, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, coverslipping, and quality control.


The Histology Technician supports accurate and timely diagnosis by ensuring specimens are handled properly, prepared according to laboratory standards, and documented accurately. This role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of laboratory safety practices, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical laboratory environment.


Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma required.
• Completion of a histology technician program, laboratory science program, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of histology techniques, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining procedures.
• Ability to follow detailed laboratory procedures and safety requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a laboratory team.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use a laboratory information system.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
• Associate degree in Histotechnology, Laboratory Science, Biology, or a related field preferred.
• Histotechnician certification, such as HT by the American Society for Clinical Pathology, preferred.
• Histotechnologist certification, such as HTL by the American Society for Clinical Pathology, preferred.
• Previous experience in a hospital, clinical laboratory, pathology laboratory, or anatomic pathology setting required.
• Experience with special stains, immunohistochemistry, frozen sections, or cytology specimen preparation required.
• Knowledge of CAP, CLIA, OSHA, and other laboratory regulatory standards required.
• Current, valid, and active driver's license required.
• Ability to travel using publicly available air and ground transportation.

Certificates, Licensures, Registrations:

• BLS certification from a Vibra Travels' approved vendor required.
• Histotechnician certification, such as HT by the American Society for Clinical Pathology, preferred.
• Histotechnologist certification, such as HTL by the American Society for Clinical Pathology, preferred.
