This position presents a unique and outstanding opportunity for a dynamic and enterprising physician leader to shape a long-term vision and establish the newly formed Institute as a destination for orthopedics and sports medicine care, both within the state and for the region.Established in 2017 through the merger of Greenville Health System and Palmetto Health, Prisma Health was created to best serve patients and their families. Today, the System has three regions: Columbia/Sumter (the Midlands), Greenville (the Upstate), and the recent acquisition of Blount Memorial Hospital in Eastern Tennessee. Be the difference.The Institute will be comprised of adult and pediatric orthopedics, primary care sports medicine, and physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) and is supported by over 200 master clinicians along with 50+ residents and fellows and over 600 support staff. This world class team is making a profound impact, with over 600,000 office visits and 38,000 surgeries reported in FY24. Prisma Health's network includes level 1 trauma, orthopedic oncology, sports medicine, same-day walk-ins, adult reconstruction, and two children's hospitals. The team enjoys a large athletic training network that manages the vast majority of universities and colleges in the state of South Carolina.The ideal candidates will be an outstanding and demonstrated servant leader with the ability to effectively align, manage, and develop a vision for the Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute. They will have a thorough understanding of complex multi-facility health systems and have previous success in leading accomplished orthopedic programs. Candidates must possess an M.D. or equivalent degree and be board certified in orthopedic surgery.
