As a division of the Superior Court, pretrial officers and staff work with all courts in Pima County, law enforcement, attorneys, and other local justice professionals. Job Description Hiring Rate: $23.94 hourly. Essential Functions Utilize evidence‑based practices to inform the court for the initial setting and review of bail conditions for pretrial defendants. Develop individualized pretrial release plans, conditions, and support defendants’ compliance with court‑ordered conditions of release through supervised release. Interview defendants, references, and victims to gather and verify information statutorily required (ARS13‑3967) at any stage of the court process, from initial appearance to case disposition. Administer actuarial‑based assessments to determine risk of re‑offense and failure to appear in court. Conduct records checks for criminal history, interpreting and documenting criminal history. Prepare bail recommendations on felony and misdemeanor defendants utilizing legal criteria and evidence‑based practices. Make release decisions for eligible misdemeanor defendants (Administrative Order, 1980) and produce release orders, schedule court dates, determine any special conditions of release, and process and sign court release forms. Mitigate defendant failures to appear by offering warrant prevention and resolution activities, such as court‑date reminders, field contacts, and arranging self‑surrender to the court. Monitor pretrial defendants on supervised release in accordance with the defendant’s ordered conditions, legal status, evidence‑based practice and actuarial assessment level. Maintain a file of documentation of defendants’ compliance with court‑ordered conditions, performance while under supervision, and a record of appearances at scheduled court hearings. Ensure defendants are informed of their obligations regarding court conditions and supervision terms, and of the implementation of general and special court conditions of release. Conduct periodic reviews of defendants’ needs (behavioral health, employment, housing, and other non‑criminogenic factors) and facilitate introduction to appropriate community services when requested. Conduct field visits and maintain face‑to‑face and written contact with defendants to ensure compliance with conditions of release. Notify the court and appropriate parties of any conditions of release violations, successful and unsuccessful drug and alcohol tests, and other activity pertinent to the defendant’s compliance. Monitor collection of urine specimens and conduct breath analysis as ordered by the court, maintaining accurate records of all specimens collected for testing. Minimum Qualifications A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. One year of experience in a criminal justice related field or a position involving personal interaction in an advisory role with clients is preferred. Equivalent experience, training, or education approved by human resources is acceptable. Licenses, Certificates & Physical Conditions Licenses Must have a valid Arizona driver license at the time of appointment. Physical Demands/Working Conditions Typically performs duties in an office environment, correctional facility, and the community. May lift materials and/or equipment up to 20 lbs. The court will notify incumbents of the risk of exposure to airborne and blood‑borne pathogens; a hepatitis B vaccine will be provided. Hours and Locations Selected candidates will be stationed at either 150 W. Congress St. or 1270 W. Silverlake Rd. The hours vary by location. 150 W. Congress: 8‑5 Mon‑Fri. 1270 W.
