Setty Plastics & Aesthetics is seeking an organized, dependable Registered Nurse to lead the daily operations of our plastic surgery operating rooms. This position combines approximately 70% administrative and leadership responsibilities with 30% direct clinical care , with the balance varying based on surgical volume and staffing needs.

You will work closely with our surgeons and established team to keep our OR safe, efficient, well stocked, and ready for surgery. The role also includes limited clinical supervision of our surgery clinic RN and medical assistant.

From preparing patients for surgery to supporting them through recovery, you will help ensure that each patient feels comfortable, informed, respected, and cared for.

We welcome experienced OR managers as well as strong OR nurses ready to move into leadership. Previous management experience is preferred, but reliability, attention to detail, ownership, and consistent follow-through are essential.

Key Responsibilities - OR Operations and Staff Leadership

• Manage daily OR operations, staffing assignments, schedules, and coverage.
• Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, clinic staff, and PRN nurses to support surgical scheduling and smooth patient flow.
• Supervise OR nursing and surgical support staff, including onboarding, training, competency documentation, coaching, and performance feedback.
• Establish clear expectations, address concerns promptly, and ensure assigned responsibilities are completed.
• Develop and maintain policies, checklists, and workflows that support safe, efficient care.
• Foster a collaborative team environment grounded in accountability, respectful communication, and excellent patient service.

Supplies, Inventory, and Equipment

• Order surgical supplies, medications, implants, and other necessary materials.
• Maintain appropriate inventory levels, monitor expiration dates, and prevent avoidable shortages and excess stock.
• Coordinate vendor relationships and purchasing with attention to quality, cost, and appropriate supply use.
• Oversee equipment readiness, preventive maintenance, inspections, servicing, and repairs.
• Ensure required equipment checks, sterilization records, and related logs are completed accurately.

Accreditation, Safety, and Quality

• Maintain ongoing readiness for accreditation surveys and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Keep policies, personnel records, training documentation, and required clinical logs current.
• Oversee infection prevention practices, emergency preparedness, and adherence to established safety protocols.
• Identify gaps in documentation or processes and ensure corrective actions are completed.
• Coordinate quality improvement activities with practice leadership.

Clinical Nursing and Clinic Supervision

• Provide hands-on perioperative nursing care, including circulating and pre-op/recovery coverage, as assigned.
• Assist with coverage during busy surgical days, staff absences, and occasional add-on cases.
• Support safe patient handoffs, accurate documentation, patient education, and discharge processes.
• Provide limited clinical supervision, guidance, and competency oversight for the surgery clinic RN and medical assistant.
• Communicate clinical concerns promptly to the appropriate surgeon or anesthesia provider.

Patient Experience and Customer Service

• Set the standard for warm, attentive, and professional interactions with patients and their families.
• Anticipate patient needs, explain what to expect, and help ease anxiety throughout the surgical experience.
• Address patient questions and concerns with empathy, responsiveness, and appropriate follow-through.
• Coach staff on communication, service, and the details that help patients feel supported.
• Work with the broader practice team to create a coordinated experience from the clinic through surgery and recovery.

Qualifications

• Current Texas RN license or valid multistate RN license permitting practice in Texas.
• Strong operating room nursing experience and the ability to function independently as a circulating nurse.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Familiarity with perioperative safety, infection prevention, sterile technique, and emergency response.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• A patient-centered approach and commitment to exceptional customer service.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and hold yourself and others accountable.
• Comfort with electronic documentation, inventory tracking, and learning practice systems.

Preferred qualifications:

• Plastic surgery, ambulatory surgery center, or office-based surgery experience.
• Charge nurse, supervisory, or management experience.
• Experience with accreditation preparation, inventory management, or OR quality improvement.
• Pre-op and PACU experience.

Schedule and Work Setting

• Full-time, salaried, in-person position in McKinney, Texas.
• Primarily weekday hours, with flexibility for surgical start times, case completion, and occasional add-on cases.
• Surgical operations generally run three to five days per week, with some days involving two operating rooms.
• Dedicated administrative work is a substantial part of the position.
