You will test fresh concrete, prepare and test cylinders, document results, and communicate issues quickly so pours stay on track.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform field testing on freshly mixed concrete for slump/workability, air content, temperature, and other specified properties.Communicate professionally with customers and contractors on jobsites; relay relevant information and help manage pours and truck flow when needed.Sample and test hardened concrete specimens and maintain proper curing and handling practices.Document and record test results accurately; maintain detailed records of all testing activities and jobsite observations.Monitor production quality and work with the QC and production teams to troubleshoot issues and improve consistency.Assist with concrete mix design adjustments and optimization as needed to meet quality and performance standards.Always follow all safety protocols and quality procedures, including jobsite and task-specific safety requirements and required PPE. Quality Control Technician Qualifications1+ year experience in concrete field testing or a similar role in the construction/materials industry (preferred).High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or coursework in construction materials is a plus.Knowledge of concrete testing methods and equipment; familiarity with relevant ASTM/ACI standards preferred.ACI certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).Ability to interpret technical specifications and communicate them clearly.Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to perform basic math and measurements accurately.Physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and lift/move materials as needed.Valid driver's license and clean driving record. About Shelby MaterialsShelby Materials delivers high-quality concrete, on-time and in-spec, to a wide variety of customers and jobs.Founded on Veterans Day in 1951, Shelby Materials is based in Shelbyville, Indiana, and has 12 locations serving Central Indiana.
