Payroll Accountant

Harmer Associates (Dallas) are partnering with a growing organization seeking a Payroll Accountant to support payroll operations and related accounting functions. This role will play a key part in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while supporting reconciliations, accruals, and month‑end close activities. Key Responsibilities Oversee weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing to ensure accuracy and compliance. Review payroll registers and manage payroll funding requirements. Prepare and post payroll‑related journal entries, including wages, benefits, and payroll taxes. Calculate payroll accruals such as wages payable, PTO liability, bonuses, and employer payroll taxes. Reconcile payroll clearing accounts, payroll liabilities, and benefit‑related accounts. Support month‑end close and assist with audit documentation. Partner with HR to ensure accurate payroll and benefits data transmission. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 3–5 years of accounting experience, including payroll and benefits accounting. Experience managing weekly and bi-weekly payroll cycles. Strong understanding of GAAP and accrual accounting. Experience with ADP Workforce Now and ERP systems preferred.
